Much Well the youth are put into groups and have counselors over each group A male counselor has 20 or so boys he s over and the same for a female counselor Then they group a male and female counselor and their youth together and that s pretty much the group you spend most of your time with You re paired up with other groups off and on as well Well the male counselor of our group happened to be Hank Smith He was so much fun Young college student and spending his summer working with the youth Each group gives themselves a name and creates a couple cheers that we do for skits or just as we re walking around the campus that we re at We were called the Swanky Hankies we played on the word Hankie as a handkerchief and Hank Smith s name It was a great week and after 20 years I hadn t forgotten about those counselors Well imagine my surprise when I finally came across a flier that he was doing a talk in one of the bigger cities by where I live I did a double take on the flier posted at our church building and had to laugh Then I saw in a Deseret Bookstore catalog.

Another great talk Hank Smith is so funny and I love his talks I Love My Friends Terrific talk about balancing family and friends and the importance of choosing good friends I Love My Friends It was super funny and it had a good tone for learning I Love My Friends Everyone needs to hear this I Love My Friends Favorite I Love My Friends Popular speaker Hank Smith asks Have you ever heard your parents say If all of your friends jumped off a bridge would you jump too How are you supposed to answer that Bro Smith suggests that your response depends on knowing the answer to a few other questions like How high is the bridge How deep is the water below Is someone on the bridge trying to kill me In this positive and uplifting talk Hank Smith discusses the life changing importance of choosing good friends and of being a good friend Quoting from For the Strength of Youth Bro Smith says Choose your friends carefully They will greatly influence how you think and act and even determine the person you become Using his trademark humor colorful stories and examples and quotes from the prophets and apostles Bro Smith illustrates just how true this statement is He says that a true friend can help you make wise choices and can even save your life A real friend will stand between their friend and a horrible choice and at least say something emphasizes Bro Smith Your friend might just say forget you but at least they ll know you said something Do you love your friends making meals or whatever He s fun and energetic and connects well with youth. I love my friends because Knowing that she enjoyed his previous talks on CD I picked this one to listen to with her We were making dinner and cleaning up the kitchen on afternoon early evening and turned this on We had so much fun laughing and talking about what Hank was saying Some of his discussion talked about subjects my husband and I had been discussing with our daughters It s always wonderful when you re trying to teach your kids something and close to the same time they hear the exact same thing coming from somebody else You try not to do a little happy dance or say I told you So you smile and do a happy dance inside He s got some great advice about friends friendships and being the right kind of friend yourself Plus his stories are just fun Many years ago when I was just turning 15 I went to EFY Especially For Youth a week long conference type event for youth 14 18 and focusing a lot on the LDS faith EFY was so much fun Picture many youth your same age coming from many different states all gathering together to have a week of fun and gospel learning We held dances and field sports activities classes talent shows and much many books and audiobooks of his talks It was so fun to see what he went on to do with his career And fun to tell my daughters as we listen to and love his talks I knew him many years ago Lol So if you haven t listened to our read a talk by Hank I highly recommend it Especially his Be Happy or How to be Happy in an Unhappy World He s super positive and has a great way of portraying that in his words and encouraging his listeners mostly youth to be happy and find ways to be happy and look outside of themselves help others and to draw nearer to Jesus Christ. I Love My Friends epublishing Happy Reading I Love My Friends Hank Smith is great for teens who are fans of John Bytheway especially between the ages of 12 14 He has a great sense of humor that makes his stories relatable and enjoyable but he still manages to talk about the gospel with reverence My husband and I listened to this audio CD in the car during our road trip and loved it I Love My Friends Hank Smith makes the gospel so fun Always love his talks which I listen to over and over again His talks are a must on family road trips Even though his talks are geared towards teenagers I always find them inspiring and I always learn something new and feel like I want to be better and do better Highly recommend Hank Smith I Love My Friends My kids think Hank Smith is just a comedian that happens to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints We listened to this in the car as a family during a ski trip to Jackson Hole We all loved it I loved how he brought up Shadrach Mechac and Abendigo and the friendship they had How they must have talked together and decided together what they would do We want friends that will help us choose right and be a good enough friend to tell us when we are not doing right I Love My Friends I Love My FriendsHank Smith enjoys teaching in the Religious Education Department at BYU and is a favorite speaker for Especially for Youth Best of Especially for Youth and BYU Education Week Hank and his wife Sara were both born and raised in St George Utah They are the parents of one daughter and four sons Brother Smith enjoys running marathons and eating lots and lots of ice cream which is why he runs marathons More than anything else he loves being at home spending all day with his wife and children You can follow him on Facebook at site_link www.
