The Morning Star (The Rocheport Saga #1) By C.W. Hawes
Son of the morning star book
I ve never read this author before Now I m under his spell Such was the magnitude of the impact I ve experienced by reading CW Hawes book It s amazing the way the characters become so vivid I hope to have Bill close when That Day arrives and I have no doubt it will Why because everything makes sense It s not a crazy story of the End of the World It s exactly what you need to know what you need to consider and what you need to avoid when I was delighted by each reference this so cultured man made I enjoyed every aspect of this book 3. Book the morning after W Hawes Let me confess up front I don t like post apocalyptic fiction But I do like the writing of CW Hawes So I had to overcome some bias in order to buy this book in the first place I m glad I did It may be the best thing I have read among his books a taut well conceived gripping page turner I don t use those reviewer s clich s lightly This is a terrific book If most of the population died suddenly what would happen no really what would actually happen as the electrical infrastructure failed as farms homes and hospitals were left untended Who would survive and who would thrive Bill Arthur is probably a pretty decent man who has to do some pretty harsh things in an increasingly violent and desperate society And yet he has the skills and temperament to succeed Hawes has clearly worked hard visioning how people would act how they might respond to these circumstances His genius in this book is showing the lengths to which people might go to continue living even while keeping Arthur s humanity and desire to build community alive As a side note his development of a host of minor characters really brings the story to life Highly recommended with your last bottle of wine and squirrel stew C. Morning star book The Rocheport Saga is a deeply entertaining and thought provoking end of the world series written by CW Hawes the talented author of Justinia Wright series and the Pierce Mostyn Investigations. Science Fiction The Morning star pdf Whilst there are no walking dead apocalyptic flesh eating plagues or unrelenting cybernetic machines to contend with the true horror lies in what we ourselves often become when faced with the end Mankind is the true horror here. Son of the morning star book review CW Hawes post apocalyptic vision is one that will appeal to all those that have wondered What If Could you survive in a world without the trappings so many rely upon today Would you know what to do without Google or Wikipedia Through the protagonist Bill Arthur CW Hawes not only tells us a story of survival and hope but also provides us with the blueprint to rebuilding all that was lost and perhaps make better the second time around. Morning star history class 9 textbook pdf The cast of the story is well rounded providing someone for everybody to either love or hate To some extent the story has a touch of Terry Nation s Survivors about it All in all The Morning Star indeed the whole of the Rocheport Saga provides a breath of fresh air to a genre saturated with zombies. Son of the morning star book This is perhaps the one series of books you want to have in print kept somewhere close to hand or tucked in amongst your desert island discs for that moment when the end of the world finally knocks on your door CW Hawes may very well save your life and tell you a story while he s at it The end of the world it s coming C. Book the morning after W Hawes Often times the concern with prepper fiction is that the main character becomes nothing than a mouthpiece for discussing survival tactics This is surely not the case with CW s The Morning Star The plot and character development are expertly woven into a journal entry type narrative incorporating survival techniques and a strong morality to this work This is a unique contribution to the post apocalyptic genre which I recommend not only as a great summer read but also a great anytime read Well done C. Daughter of the morning star book W Hawes CW Hawes s book The Morning Star The Rochefort Saga 1 made me think of the quote by Socrates s animals and rebuilding a conscience society I look forward to the next in the series C. The morning star scripture W Hawes There s a frequently used meme in modern social programs Everyone makes fun of the redneck until the zombies attack Well there aren t any zombies here but the saying still holds true. The morning story marion ia Bill Arthur was your basic everyman something of a relic in today s politically correct and perennially offended society a guy with a few years under his belt and a good head on his shoulders His good old boy wisdom is the product of a strong work ethic a sound moral foundation an upbringing which included learning to shoot hunt and care for himself without needing an app for that and a generous helping of common sense. Science Fiction The Morning star pdf When the world comes to a screeching halt thanks to the outbreak of a disease with a 95 % mortality rate this is the guy you want in your corner focused on the day to day aspects of survival while keeping an eye to the future knowing if he can just gather enough people with the right skills perhaps something great can be born of the disaster. Science Fiction The Morning star pdf But for every Bill Arthur there are a thousand parasites Why build when you can steal Why worry about tomorrow when you can have what you want today Why develop trust when it s easier to rule with fear Told in a diary fashion with Bill the grumpy narrator and grudging guide to a growing group of survivors The Morning Star is the first in a lengthy series A good combination of action adventure and vivid descriptions of a world crumbling to dust the book weaves these threads in with ideas of love and loss grief and joy and becomes something rare in the post apocalytpic genre a story of hope C. The morning story marion ia W Hawes Billions went to bed and billions never woke up So begins this one of a kind post apocalyptic tale sans zombies or a clue to the source of the medical catastrophe and that s quite alright Bill Arthur narrates his own story of survival in this brave new world where survivors are few and far between Those that have survived due primarily to their otherwise lazy and spoon fed existence are completely unprepared and incapable of fending for themselves much less anyone else Bill on the other hand is among the few that grew up and maintained a self sufficient lifestyle He is widely read and experienced in many of the tasks we take for granted tasks and knowledge necessary to survive in a world that has relapsed to an era equivalent to the Middle Ages As the days pass new people join Bill s group Most are helpful knowledgeable in specific areas that prove helpful to the group s survival There are as always in life a few bad apples and the Reverend Jedidiah Powers is one of these. Science Fiction The Morning star cast W Hawes will surely not be the last Authors of high caliber are most often well read life experienced and capable eager to undertake extensive research to maintain complete verisimilitude in fiction for me a most important aspect of storytelling You can t relate reality better than Hawes has in The Morning Star As this is the first book in a series there is a cliff hanger conclusion Hawes excels here too This first book in the series ends perfectly It wraps up the major plot lines presented to date and perfectly sets the stage for book two The Shining City I already have it C. Kindle The Morning star book W Hawes I thoroughly enjoyed this novel Having started and abandoned two other books of the same genre before opening this one it was great to find something intelligently written by a writer with real talent as soon as I d read the first page I was sure I was going to love it. Son of the morning star book Bill Arthur is a guy in his late fifties who is surviving after whatever happened on That Day Along his travels southwards from Minnesota after leaving groups that weren t working out he teams up with several others and they settle in Rocheport Missouri All is going smoothly but then another group turn up led by a religious zealot. Science Fiction The Morning star book This is a post apocalyptic book about real people about survival and the effect of TEOTWAWKI on humans used to every technological convenience It s told by Bill in the first person in a laid back sort of diary format Of course this structure has its limitations namely in describing events that happen to others in Bill s group and further afield but this is handled well and never clumsily. Book the morning after by lisa jackson I liked Bill a lot enjoyed reading his philosophical thoughts and the methods employed for the group s well being I was engrossed all the way through Although not a gun fights and action book it is not without suspense and danger and is certainly a page turner. Book the morning after I ve knocked off half a star because of an editorial issue ie one the editor should have picked up on that is one of my pet whinges the not infrequent use of the term Sally or whoever and I when it should have been Sally and me and because I was frustrated that we were never told exactly what happened on That Day or why it occurred. Book the morning after These small issues aside I absolutely recommend this book for lovers of this genre it s a quiet gem and one I m glad I ve discovered C W Hawes is a terrific writer and I ve already begun the second book in the series C. Science Fiction The Morning star cast W Hawes It s impossible for any of us to know what we d do how we d react or what we might become in times of crisis until we re actually put in that situation Even the smartest most experienced people can make mistakes in tight spots under a split second s decision maybe with disastrous consequences. The morning star candlestick W Hawes follows the travels of survivor and widower Bill Arthur told in first person as he scrapes together every resource he can and explores the relationships he develops with a growing number of people on the way as they try to settle down in Rocheport where they hope to build a new life using what essential survival skills their fair pragmatic leader Bill can teach them. Book the morning after Reading this book one finds it very difficult not to ask themselves about how they might also behave in that situation how tough strong or how valuable or not they may be to such a group reduced to living by primitive means Personally in such a ruthless dystopian world of gangs cannibalistic rapists and armed neighbours like the fanatical religious zealot Jed living practically next door plus the inevitable absence of cigarettes chocolate deciding my general mood I d much rather learn how to kill such threats before they kill me thanks This novel has reminded me I must dig out my SAS Survival in the Wild Book again because The Morning Star is packed from start to finish with the practical means by which the protagonist acquires food water fuel weapons you name it It s impossible not to be very impressed by Hawes s wealth of knowledge in this area. The morning star book W Hawes What would you do if you woke one morning and found almost everyone you knew dead Your spouse significant other children parents siblings neighbors What if when you went out from your neighborhood you found out almost everyone everywhere was dead Most of us don t have a clue how to survive if stranded in a wilderness let alone try to survive when most of those we meet may try to kill us For Bill Arthur this was the reality he woke up to one September morning In The Morning Star we follow Bill Arthur on his quest to survive in a lawless land and lay the foundation for a new world where his fellow survivors and nature are all too often against him We follow him on his journey to find a place to call home follow him as he runs across three people with whom he shares his dream and who are willing to throw their lot in with him and make his dream theirs The Morning Star is a post apocalyptic tale of what is possible if we only dare to dream The Morning Star The Rocheport Saga 1 I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio and have lived in suburban Minneapolis Minnesota for the past forty five years with occasional sojourns here and there My interests range far and wide but I dont do windows and Im not a good dancer I do like to cook though and am especially fascinated by steam power sailing ships airships streamlined locomotives and automobiles and all things streamline moderne I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio and have lived in suburban Minneapolis Minnesota for the past forty five years with occasional sojourns here and there My interests range far and wide but I don t do windows and I m not a good dancer I do like to cook though and am especially fascinated by steam power sailing ships airships streamlined locomotives and automobiles and all things streamline moderne site_link.
