Wild Space (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, #2) By Karen Miller

But because the author literally breaks her awful out of character fan fiction versions of them to make the story happen The characters do not drive this story I m not sure this book had characters None of them feel fleshed out They are simply punching bags shaped like beloved Star Wars characters who spoute ideas and messages until the plot forces them to change their opinions This was almost as unpleasant to read as Tess of the Dubervilles by Thomas Hardy That had beautiful prose though This author can t even manage that much Is it to much to ask for good stories driven by fleshed out characters who learn and grow Is it to much to ask for good prose that isn t riddled with sentence fragments and an obvious need for a thesaurus I don t think so My professors may have been right about me having sadomasochistic reading tendencies Brace for incoming book rant review 9780345509017 five out of five for the sheer bravery of being so horny for obi wan getting fucked up by everything around himANOTHER five out of five for making obi wan beg for bail to seer him with a lightsaber it s the greatest book i ve ever read 9780345509017 Oh dear I have a bad feeling about this This is the second novelisation of the Clone Wars animated series that I ve read and not enjoyed.

If we give ourselves permission to say this death justifies that one then we truly are lost. Wildspace books Holy shit this book was probably one of the BEST Star Wars books I have ever read I may be a tad bit biased of course since this era happens to be my favorite but it s really to it than just that. Book Wild spacebar The story was well crafted and pretty amazing in and of itself Unfortunately a lot of books set within fandom universes tend to fall a bit flat with grandiose action scenes canceling out any semblance of actual storytelling Not true in the case of this book at all The story was incredible and delved into a lot of issues and questions that I have always harbored such as How in the world could the Sith take the Jedi by surprise so badly and Why do the jedi dislike mistrust politicians Karen Miller did a spectacular job fleshing out this world and this story so well that it answered many of the questions I felt would never get answered adequately enough for me. Book wild sam Further I have never experienced such exquisite character development in a Star Wars book before Anakin Padme Obi wan Bail Organa Mace Yoda and even PalpatineI got such insight into their characters so than I ever experienced in the films or in other books It was amazing and basically just a joy to read 9780345509017 Bullet Review That was AWFUL Over half the book isn t even about the plot characters are always angry and ready for a fight at the drop of a hat When the so called plot engaged it then became too kriffing long and interminable This book is published Obi Wan hurt comfort fan fic that was one kiss away from being an Obi Wan Bail pairing which would have MASSIVELY improved the plot. Wild spaces book Full Review Star Wars has really changed over the years from the moment the first movie hit the theaters in 1977 to today when people crowd their tablets to watch The Mandalorian on Disney Star Wars has been evolving and changing Some moments were sparse as the times were post Return of the Jedi remember the Dark Times folks when there wasn t a movie coming out every other year or a respectable TV show these days there s so much Star Wars to consume it s overwhelming. Wild Space book I went back to this book because my friend discovered it for the first time and was shocked I will let her review speak for itself but despite my hundreds of unread books it sparked me to return to this book this book that I rated 5 stars and shelved simply the best and look closely at what was there In case you want the short answer my opinions have changed 180 for friends who knew me when I first read this and you know who you are and gushed how amazing it is I suppose there is some comfort in knowing that You were right. Book Wild spacex I m not going into a plot synopsis because I think it s impossible to do The first half of the book is your standard multiple POV third person past narrative rotating between Anakin angry Padme angry Obi Wan in pain Yoda dumb and Palpatine Darth Sidious why Then there s an about face and for the second half of the book Bail suddenly appears with Important Information that must be acted on ASAP and now it s only Obi Wan angry and Bail angry as they ever so slowly finally wander into Wild Space only to crash land on Zigoola lol was this created in a random name generator and then spend the rest of the book in pain and half dying except for the end when suddenly Bail and Obi Wan are BFFs The irony of me starting this out saying I m not doing a plot synopsis followed by a plot synopsis is not lost on me It s uneven there s no real satisfying ending it s basically what you get when you cram two disconnected episodes of a TV series together and given this is tied in with the CGI series I wouldn t be surprised if that was the case here. Book Wild space coast In case it s not obvious this book was generally unpleasant to read The characters are all extremely volatile ready for a fight or to say the nastiest things they can at the drop of a hat Padme waltzes into the Jedi Healing and demands to see Anakin with no regard for the secrecy of their relationship When Yoda or Obi Wan come to see her she either is constantly on the cusp of biting their heads off or does so Anakin is cruel to his apprentice Ahsoka whom I may not have liked in the one season of the Clone Wars I watched but certainly deserves than what she s given here Obi Wan is either constantly angry or in pain Bail curses that Obi Wan is so stubborn All the constant anger constant negative emotions is draining one could try to make the excuse It s war nothing is fun in war but wasn t Star Wars the one where Han Solo says Boring conversation anyway in the middle of a prison cell And then there s all the pain Obi Wan himself ends up in excruciating pain not once not twice but at minimum three times in this book Anakin loses an arm Bail is also in immense pain and apparently has lost enough weight to be noticeable in a few day s time But what I see most in all this pain is this uncomfortable trope called Hurt Comfort which according to Fanlore Wiki Hurt comfort is a fanfiction genre that involves the physical pain or emotional distress of one character who is cared for by another character The injury sickness or other kind of hurt allows an exploration of the characters and their relationship. Wild spaces book Although most sources say hurt comfort occurs in fanfiction I have seen this concept in published fiction NOTE given that this book is no longer canon is this now fanfiction Some authors thinking of Diana Gabaldon and her fascination with Jaime s prolific beatings seem to really relish in delivering massive amounts of pain and agony to their favorite characters and watching while they struggle to breath. Wild Space ebookee Life is full of pain pain can lead to good stories struggles about good and evil But never ending pain is absolutely dreadful to read about a voyeuristic jaunt into a torture chamber And reading about Obi Wan forcing Bail to slice his already injured leg with a lightsaber so that Obi Wan can reach out to Yoda is absolutely vile There isn t a discussion on any alternative options to this problem Obi Wan says this is the only way so Bail must submit and do what Obi Wan says Obi Wan is right in the end so everything is okay no mention is made of the trauma Bail must have endured by harming another sentient. Book Wild space coast There are so many incidents that happen in this book like the above that just break down fundamentally Why is the Sith fortress this powerful and if it were that powerful how did the Sith not wipe out the Jedi years ago I ve read a LOT of Star Wars and I ve never encountered such a planet like Zigoola one where the Jedi were in constant agonizing pain hearing DIE JEDI DIE over and over again Why does no one catch on to Padme and Anakin Why does Yoda just roll over and let Palpatine do whatever he wants Why did Palpatine sacrifice Zigoola to the Jedi only to be mad when it failed Why is Palpatine so smart and so dumb simultaneously Why is Obi Wan so angry constantly Why is everyone so angry It doesn t really fit anywhere but I really feel the need to say this somewhere this book basically set up an Obi Wan Bail pairing and failed to deliver The beginning scenes were classic if mediocre slap slap kiss in a different world this book would have had at least one kiss between our male leads and a fade to black since this is Star Wars after all and this book proves we don t do sexy times in Star Wars More chee chees indeed If that had been present Today Me would have been cheering. PDF Wild spacebar clicker Before I continue I know Karen Miller probably put her all into this she says in the book she s a long time Star Wars Obi Wan fan the Obi Wan aspect definitely comes out and I believe her What really kills me than anything Milller wrote is that 10 years ago I loved this book a sentiment that has me bemused I will be honest I did have a thing for Jimmy Smits Bail Of course I liked Obi Wan Ewan McGregor Is it really enough to have a couple of attractive men in a book to elevate any problems Or was I really that angry broken of a person Based on the way 2020 went I tend to think it was the latter. EBook Wild spaceship I Liked There is a lot to love about this book but the first thing I will discuss is characters Karen Miller newcomer to Star Wars novels has perfectly nailed each and every one that she attempts The first that comes to mind is Yoda I was astounded absolutely astounded when she wrote Yoda so beautifully I could hear his voice from the movie in my head Too many authors just mix up the sentences so they are backwards but I could tell that Miller took the effort to work out the sounds and make sure it sounded like Yoda Yeah he s curt but take a look at Yoda from Empire wasn t he a bitquirky Plus this is during a war not everyone makes bad jokes like they do in Jedi Trial. Wild spaces book For one of the first times in a novel yay Padme actually stops being a plot device and starts being her own person with her own point of view Again Miller perfectly captures Padme s voice and her motivations I adored how she gave Padme a reason for loving and sticking with Anakin Because her love could save him Also Padme gets to show WHY she is supposedly such a great politician acting as an intermediary for Bail and Obi Wan And I love it when she tells Anakin to stop trying to protect her from everything to let her be her own person You go girl And take THAT Bella Swan Before I get to our major protagonists I want to talk briefly about Anakin and Ahsoka Anakin is well done here a capable yet confused Jedi And Ahsoka is definitely earnest but fallible Padawan than the annoying Mary Sue from the movie. Wildspace books As for Bail and Obi Wan they make the most amusing Odd Couple I enjoyed their banters because when they argued you learned things about them Such as there is suffering experienced by those Force sensitives denied Jedi training than any Padawan you might meet Or perhaps this the systems the Separatist enticethe suffering and fear the Republic experiencesthe longer it takes the Jedi to end this conflict the harder the Jedi s pedestal is going to rock Especially if it s perceived that you re not suffering like everyone else Or how about this one Politicians have a disconcerting habit of making up rules that don t then apply to you this one really resonates with me as it seems to apply aptly to the Solo Skywalker clans in the early 90 s books Tid bits about Obi Wan s past revealed in the amazing children s series the Jedi Apprentice series make their way here showing that Miller does her homework We get to see how attached Obi Wan is and how he struggles and in that way get to compare it to Anakin s struggle As for Bail we finally get an understanding of Leia s words so long ago Years ago Obi Wan served with my father in the Clone Wars He is a politician but he is devoted to the Republic. EBook Wild spaceship This is very much a character novel meant to show the growing relationship between Obi Wan and Bail so the plot is very muted an intelligence collecting mission to the Outer Rim leaving plenty of time for our duo to spend hours cramped in a small ship and argue or trudge along on a deserted world I thought I might be bored or might be upset that there wasn t fighting sequences but honestly they would just clutter the book up We need the time to figure out how Obi Wan and Bail become friends Throwing a needless lightsaber duel or big scale war would just undermine this and take much needed time away from this development Plus too many people associate action with dogfighting or lightsaber duels In this book Bail and Obi Wan are stranded on Zigoola and have to make their way to a Sith Temple Their travels are action Their trials and struggles along the journey are action No it doesn t include blaster fire and people dying but it is still action. Kindle Wild space coast As for Miller s writing style I found it enjoyable to read It was brisk clear nicely written easy on the eyes and good for going through it quickly A perfect combination if you ask me. Kindle Wild spacex starship As I mentioned earlier there isn t a lot of traditional Clone Wars action not like in comparison to the Clone Wars movie adaptation by Karen Traviss and this being a Clone Wars novel some people may be upset with it I really wasn t but that s just me Plus as I explained earlier a lot of the action here is different action not war or battle action but journey type action. Wild spaces book Some people may get a little tired of all the time Bail and Obi Wan spend first en route to Zigoola and then en route to the Sith Temple Again I can understand and I did get a bit tired too but I realized that we are learning watching seeing Obi Wan and Bail grow closer together Plus if I am tired can you imagine how tired they must be The story begins with Yoda Padme Anakin Ahsoka and Obi Wan and by the halfway mark only Obi Wan remains with Bail included I know Karen Miller was writing around a Clone Wars episode but still it was kinda funny a little off balanced almost Fortunately she brings back the characters towards the end and evens it out. Book Wild spacex Overall I am positively floored I had to really be nitpicky and practically make up stuff to complain about Karen Miller is an astonishing author and has beautifully captured the essence of Star Wars and the essence of the characters she is using I am so glad she has joined the repertoire of Star Wars authors she has done miles better than some of her predecessors and highly recommend this book Go out read it now spoiler 9780345509017 Not a four star in the real world but so much better than most SW books that Miller desires the credit A writer worth reading. Science Fiction Fantasy Wild spacex And the story is a genuinely enjoyable tale of two regulars Obiwan Kenobi and Bail Organa share and first dangerous mission which forces them to deal with each other as other than stereotypical Jedi and politician if they are to survive let alone succeed The cover art has absolutely nothing to do with the story Don t you hate that 9780345509017 Star Wars The Clone Wars Wild Space was written by Karen Miller This novel is part of the Expanded Universe aka Legends timeline The tale takes place during the Rise of the Empire era during the Clone Wars 22 years before the battle of Yavin. Book Wild spacebar SUMMARY Control of hyper space lanes have become essential at the beginning of the galactic conflict The separatist movement has picked up speed in it s quest of acquiring space lanes to disrupt supply lines to the Republic such as Tiabani Gas and Kessel Spice General Grievous of the Separate Army has become a thorn in the Jedi s side keeping the order on edge at all times. Book Wild spacex The Separatists are using brutal tactics to force planetary governments into withdrawing from the Republic Intelligence has revealed that General Grievous has set sights on his next target Bothawui home world of the Bothans After Kenobi is injured during a terrorist attack on Coruscant the Jedi Council appoints the newly raised Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker to lead a battle group to fight against the assault on BothawuiOnce Kenobi is healed he and Senator Bail Organa team up to meet one of Organa s mysterious informants with coordinates to the mysterious planet Zigoola in Wild Space Secrets of the Sith and a plan to overthrow the Jedi may be found there Kenobi and Organa are greatly challenged by the dark side. Wild spacehamster OVERALL THOUGHTS The first few chapters of the book are extremely good We get important details that I had assumed were always overlooked Such great detail is poured out from the flood of tragedy that befalls the Jedi on Geonosis I ve always been curious with what happened after the battle Karen Miller does a wonderful job laying it all out The concern the dread the sorrow was expressed perfectly in the opening chapters Miller does such a wonderful job of filling in the blanks between Attack of the Clones The Clone Wars I was pleased with seeing a different side of Yoda grim and direct It had been a long time since he d had to use his Lightsaber and seeing the conflict that Republic faces was heavy on his spirit He wasn t just the kind wise Yoda we re used to he was authoritative and direct Miller managed to put a little thing in this book that I thought was a brilliant move on the authors part Palpatine had pushed the media to highlight Jedi they played a prominent roll in battles brilliant because this cloud be used later in his Imperial propaganda pieces The Jedi did not like being on the forefront of the Holo Net I was hearting that this story would be one of the worst but I really have to disagree I found it to be entertaining That said there are some things about this that are too silly that in my opinion somewhat belittle Obi Wan I thought the book while mostly decent has some really weird things the title should ve been Kenobi Crisis. Book Wild spacebar I don t want to spoil the book for those that haven t read it but if you replace the word Sith with the dark side so many moments would have been so much better This mix up really is what deducted some points for the rating. Book wild sam Rating This book receives a 3 5 stars or a C 9780345509017 this book okay bail being the only politician ever we been knew padm s portrayal was just like most of the times she sounds like a 12 year old who is completely blinded by love not someone who ruled a planet and is a current senator. Wild space card game but i did like that at some points she stands up for herself and acts like the padm we know anakin ugh obi wan is so annoyingalso anakin IF SOMETHING WERE TO HAPPEN TO OBI WAN I WOULD KNOW IT I WOULD FEEL IT literally palpatine knows that anakin would die for obi wan in a second anakin the only opinion that counts is obi wan s skywalker obi wan jedi must no have attachmentsalso obi wan saying anakin is still his padawan his duty saying he misses him waking up from nightmares screaming his name worrying about him from across the galaxy yoda implying that both obi wan and anakin have attachments and doubts that run deep MMmmh obi wan admitting to padm that he loves anakiN obikin bantering in front of ahsoka sobs when anakin says that he and padm could show obi wan love HELLO and then obi wan says we both love anakin and we always will then Obi Wan reached out his hand and pressed his palm briefly to Anakin s cheek Ahsoka saw his lips move Saw him say Well done. Wild space card game same anakin getting into trouble but KNOWING that obi wan has his back and obi wan TRUSTING that anakin will resolve the problem i love is it a sw novels if obi wan doesn t think about qui gon at least once whenever someone hints that obi wan s destiny is as important as anakin s thanks i hate it obi wan doesn t always know what is best for him and you do yes ANAKIN NO LMAO Obi Wan sighed the sound almost a groan Anakin He s gone she said firmly darting a glare in Anakin s direction You can rest Frowning Obi Wan rolled his head on the pillows No No Ignoring Vokara Che s reawakened anger Anakin slipped around to the other side of the bed and took Obi Wan s hand in a firm clasp I m not gone Master I m here OBI WAN NEARLY DYING BUT THEN SAYING HIS LOVE FOR QUI GON AND ANAKIN STRENGTHENED HIM JASDDDFKHAHDSJKS bail s overall arc was fine i guess he argued with obi wan about everything which got tired really quickly but at least he was competent 9780345509017
