2 years ago deputy sheriff Gable Walker kept a severely drunk woman from driving home Granted he almost got puked on for it but none the less he saved people s lives Now Gabe is spending some solitude at friends house while he s fixing it up When he comes in from fishing he immediately knows the house has someone in it Surprised he finds a beautiful sleeping woman in the master bedroom. Sober now for around 13 months Lori Jarret is staying at her friend s place to get some gravely needed relaxation Getting sober and trying to make it on her own Lori needs a time out to plan for her unexpected pregnancy It doesn t take long for the two to remember where they last meet Instantly Gabe knows it s best for him not to get pulled into her mess Although clearly sober he s seen to many relapses to believe her for good Not to mention Gabe has his own demons he s trying to live with 10 years ago his wife took their sleeping son and he hasn t been able to track them down yet On the way of leaving the little chalet house Lori ends up in a wreck and must stay at the house a little longer Reading about their hostile attitudes towards each other is freaking entertaining yet I felt a deep connection with both characters At first Gabe is very mean and short with her and I feel so bad for her because he doesn t know she s pregnant nor how hard she s struggling to do better Quite frequently Lori must make a mad dash to the bathroom and slowly Gabe starts becoming concerned Reading as they drew closer was beautiful but Lori s past will hit Gabe hard in the chest Listening as she tells how she gave up everything he lost 10 years ago Walking out on her husband and daughter Now trying to gain that relationship back with her Just as they are about to part ways a calls come in with a location of his missing son Unfortunately by the time they both get there both ex and son are gone Feeling depleted he quite rudely tells Lori he doesn t need her with him any and they part It doesn t take long for him to realize what he threw away Returning to her city he makes a house call and bears his heart A year later Lori s life is looking up She s spending time with her daughter husband and new baby girl Science Fiction Mystery Romance
